On "ikigai"

Hello, hello! How are you, Reader?

It's been a while, but I'm excited to be typing. I know not everyone loves to write, but I honestly find the process therapeutic and a little bit exciting. Watching a bit of research turn into an idea, turn into an opinion, and then develop into a strategy delivers a flutter of endorphins with the accomplishment. Some folks get this from talking. I get this from writing.

This week, I've been writing about a Japanese concept called 'ikigai', meaning 'a reason for being'. Ikigai is the result of balancing work you love with work you are good at, work that is profitable and work that is useful to the world. When I redesigned my business a few years back, I did it with this idea in mind, but I didn't think it was worth articulating at the time.

I feel like now, more than ever, people are looking for ikigai, whether they have a name for it or not.

As part of my tech upgrade of the Studio Clvr website, I've done a content audit (I try to do this annually) and have tweaked my messaging and moved things around a bit. This may sound boring, but it has been such a rewarding experience and I know it will pay off.

Sometimes, life finds a way to encourage us to review. However, we should regularly review, rearticulate, and reiterate. Because if we all have a bit of ikigai in our work, the result is the space for a more fulfilling life.

I'd love to hear what you're up to, so hit reply and let me know what's going on with you and your business.

Cheers,

Nic
